Lampwork beads are glass beads made by hand under the flame of an open torch. Lampwork beads are created by the ancient art of lampworking or torchworking. Lampworking is a learned skill that requires a great deal of practice and patience. Lampwork beads are produced when Individual glass artists master chemical properties of glass. Most importantly, they must understand the precise amount of heat it takes for glass to flow and the exact amount of heat which may be applied to a shaped bead before it becomes molten again and loses shape.
